Poppy Festival

Experience the beauty, celebrate the bloom.

Problem Statement: The client needed help with promoting the poppy festival, an annual spring event celebrating California's state flower at the Antelope Valley's poppy reserve, near Palmdale.
Project Overview: To effectively market the event, a cohesive visual identity was developed across various platforms. These included posters, website, and social media promotion. One of the main design elements for these advertisements was incorporating a warm color palette to invoke a sense of warmth, joy, and connection to nature.

Design Process

To help spread the word about the event to media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and the general public, a press release was created:
“ Every spring, Palmdale celebrates California’s state flower, the golden poppy at the Poppy Reserve. The area is a lovely place to hike this spring as visitors will be able to hike the 8-mile trail filled with poppies! It’s a great way to get away from the bustling sounds of the city to the tranquility of the countryside. Visitors will also be able to observe the animals that live in the Mojave Desert! Benches are located along the trail, allowing visitors to sit and watch wildlife such as meadowlarks, lizards, kangaroo rats, and more! To learn more about the ecosystem, come to the nature display exhibit located at Tehachapi Vista Point. Park rangers will be stationed along the trail for any questions or assistance.
After you finish your hike, treat yourself to a picture-perfect picnic at the Antelope Butte Vista Point, the highest point in the reserve. Each picnic spot is reserved for 90 minutes and includes a preset meal. There will also be separate meals to accommodate those with dietary restrictions. Sandwiches, pasta, fruit, and dessert will be served. While having your picnic, enjoy music from the band, Big Lucky! So come join us at the Poppy Festival on April 21st from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and create wonderful memories with your friends and families! The event will be held 15 miles west of Highway 14 near the city of Lancaster."
